Who can benefit from a ketogenic way of eating?

If you’re human, you will benefit from a ketogenic way of eating. Our ancestors likely spent much of their time in a state of ketosis due to the sporadic and scarce availability of carbohydrates. Although our civilization has undergone dramatic changes recently, our bodies have largely remained the same. We are not used to constant carbohydrate availability or ultra-processed foods, and the recent and alarming rise in nutrition-related diseases is a testament to this.

Developed in the 1920s to treat epilepsy, ketogenic therapy has gained popularity for addressing a much wider array of health issues and is now among the most researched diets globally, thanks to the growing evidence of its benefits.

Ketogenic therapy can help with -

  • weight loss

  • hypertension

  • mental health - ADHD, depression, anxiety, autism, schizophrenia, bi-polar, etc.

  • brain health - neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia.

  • epilepsy

  • cancer

  • Type 1 and 2 diabetes

  • metabolic syndrome

  • cardiovascular disease

  • polycystic ovary syndrome

  • hormonal imbalance

  • menopause

  • digestive disorders

  • autoimmune disorders - psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

Even if you feel like you’re in good health, there’s a very high likelihood you’ll feel BETTER in ketosis. Some of the most commonly reported “side effects” of a ketogenic way of eating are improved mental clarity, better sleep and consistent energy levels.

Our current mainstream eating guidelines are historically based on religious ideology and very poor science. Most doctors aren’t trained in nutrition or up to date with the latest science and won’t tell you how to eat properly. Many are starting to catch on, but it’s a slow process.

Switching to a ketogenic way of eating is a big change, but with help in the beginning, it becomes simple and easy. You won’t have to measure meals or count calories but instead just learn to listen to your body and identify healthy foods.
